Unlocking Souls in Rift

Click Here for the Best Rift GuideOne of the most commonly asked questions Rift players have is.. how can I get more souls for my calling? Regardless of whether you play a Mage, Rogue, Warrior, or Cleric, all the classes unlock their souls in the same way.

In this article, i will be going over how to get additional souls in Rift so you can try out all the different combinations.

Starter Souls

In Rift, you get your first 3 souls just by going through the opening event. As soon as you start the game, you pick a soul, and by the time you go to the future (Guardian) or the past (Defiant) you will end up with 3 souls.

Just complete all the quests you are given at the starter area – it is impossible not to get your first 3 souls just by participating in the opening event.

Getting More Souls

Most people will reading this guide already have earned their first three souls and are looking to unlock more in Rift. This is actually quite easy.

The first thing you need to do is get to Sanctum (Guardians) or Meridian (Defiant). I recommend holding off on this until you get to be about level 15 as by then you should have several quests to go to these cities.

Once you head to town, you will notice that there are a variety of quests available to you. These quests reward you with a new soul upon completion. You can pick whichever quest you want, but you can only accept 1 soul quest at a time.

Once you accept your quest to unlock your chosen soul, go out and seal a rift. Upon sealing a rift, you will get a quest item. You can then summon an NPC which you will have to fight and defeat. Once you defeat that NPC, the quest is complete.

Head back to town and turn the quest in and you will unlock that soul. Once you turn in a soul quest, you can once again accept another quest to unlock more souls. In essence, you can get all 8 souls just by doing this quest 5 times.

PvP Souls

Right now, each class has one additional soul they can get: a player versus player-based soul. This soul can be purchased in Sanctum or Meridian for 2500 favor points. I have not yet experimented with these, but it is rumored that more will be added over time.

The PvP souls have less abilities and talents available to them then your standard souls, and have a lot of abilities that are PvP oriented (-% healing debuffs, snares, and the like). If you want to get one, just save up favor and purchase it from the primary honor vendor in town!

Additional Souls in Rift Conclusion

Unlocking all the souls for your calling in Rift is quite easy just by repeating a simple quest and saving up 2500 favor points. I try not to rush it and just grab a new quest every time I head back to town. When out questing, I will seal a Rift at some point so I do not have to go out of my way to get more souls.
